2025 Klamath Falls Spinning Contest

When: September 27, 2025 10 am to noon

Who: Spinners and spinning supporters

Where: UnWind: A Craft Lounge – during the Klamath Falls Farmers Market

The Contest

2 Classes of spinners.

  • 10:00 am Drop Spindle
  • 10:30 am Foot Powered Wheel 

Spinners will spin for 15 minutes. When time is up, the spun yarn will be skeined, measured.  Limited to 12 contestants.

Rules

  1. Contestants must bring their own hand Drop Spindles or spinning wheels.
  2. Roving will be supplied.
  3. Spinners will spin for 15 minutes.
  4. When time is up, the spun yarn will be skeined, measured and judged.
  5. Judge’s decision is final.
  6. Prizes will be based on the number of YARDS SPUN.
  7. Have fun!

Prizes!  – each class will award multiple prizes

  • 1st place – $50.00 UnWind Gift Certificate
  • 2nd place – Ply or SpinOff magazine subscription  (Donated by Klamath Spinners and Weavers Guild) 
  • 3rd place – Winners choice of qiviut/merino carded batts, provided by Liz Hubbard, corriedale roving provided by Kelly Drake and other great prizes!
  • There will also be prizes for random, quirky things!
    • Smallest Wheel
    • Cutest drop spindle
    • Crossover spinner with longest yardage (combined totals from drop spinning and wheel spinning)
